Take Some Time For Your Health

I want to encourage people to take some time to pay attention to the Ten Rules for Optimal Health. I’ve been trying to get better at the technology end of zoom so that I can share this important information with as many people as I can. In person can be great but it also can delay conveying the information because someone lives far away or doesn’t have a lot of free time. I’ll confess, the technology piece is still difficult for me. I give kudos to everyone who already knows how to lead a zoom call. Sure I can jump on if I have a link. I know how to shut off my camera or mute myself when I’m listening in. However, leading a call and screen sharing and having confidence that people on the other side are seeing what you want them to see. Wow, that has surely been a challenge for me and I’m still working on it! I’m going to share a a couple highlights here but I really encourage you to listen in on a Friday (Noon AZ time, tomorrow or 2 weeks from tomorrow will be the next two zooms.) I think you will like seeing the slides and information. I know as time goes on I’ll polish it up a bit, but the core information puts things in pretty concise perspective. And let’s face it, we have all heard lots of different health tips, sometimes too many that we get overwhelmed. This is meant to simplify things for you.

I might put the “rules” in a different order someday, but for now I will stick with Dr. Lee Coyne’s rules, even if I tweak them a little as I speak with my own perspective. However, overall, the rules are pretty comprehensive. I would say though that it dawned on me yesterday that there is one piece that has a place in the rules, but I haven’t specifically addressed it in my talk yet and I may need to make a slide for it so that it doesn’t get missed. That piece is detoxification. So, Rule #1 is: Eliminate Avoidable Toxins. I’ve been focusing on the part of that which involves removing toxins from your personal products, your cleaners, and your environment…but I need to add a slide to address ways to support your body in eliminating existing toxins that have already made their way into your body. You want to avoid those too! You are always going to get exposed to toxins when you are out and about and with toxins in next to everything, you can only completely avoid a certain percentage. However, you do have God given organs and systems like the Liver, Lymph, Colon, Kidneys, and Skin that aid your body in getting rid of toxins and waste on a regular basis. For instance, sweating is actually helpful in detoxification….think of a sauna. So, in a similar way, the skin paired with moderate regular exercise (Rule #6) is an important vehicle to assist natural detoxification. Movement and Exercise also supports the lymph in its role in helping the body eliminate waste and toxins.

I’ve also learned recently that muscle mass consistently built and maintained is a key factor in optimal health and healthy aging overall. Muscle mass helps you avoid insulin resistance and keeps your metabolism tip top with increased Mitochondria. Muscle mass is also linked to better cognitive health, which is especially important. To improve and take care of your muscle mass, you should focus on quality protein intake and resistance training. In other words, maintaining or improving muscle mass is another reason that Movement and Exercise is so important to optimal health (again, #6.) For the part that protein intake plays, I have to at least mention Shaklee’s Life Shake (Soy Link… I have to say Shaklee’s Soy is not only non GMO & Beyond Organic, it is no heat and water processed, so suffice it to say, the scary things out there on the internet about today’s soy doesn’t apply.) Not only does Life Shake have clean and lean protein, it also is specifically formulated with enough leucine (the amino acid that triggers your body to build and retain muscle) so that when paired with resistance training, it has been proven to also help increase muscle mass. Now, Life Shake (Plant Link) was originally a Shaklee 180 weight management tool, however, it is a great quick meal replacement shake by itself even if weight management isn’t your priority. And yet it works perfectly with the Shaklee 180 program because when someone is restricting calories to lose weight, the body needs to burn more calories from its “reserves.” With most other programs this means that you burn/lose fat and muscle mass. However, with the leucine in Life Shake, the body will burn those deficit calories from your stored fat supply rather than from your muscle mass. This really makes the Shaklee 180 weight loss program unique over other calorie restricted programs that don’t take care to prevent muscle loss. Essentially, the Life Shake is a component that not only nourishes your body but also allows for the Shaklee 180’s unique ability to help with maintaining a lean body shape (backed by muscle mass.)

And remember Shaklee goes above and beyond industry standards to test and ensure that their products are the highest quality possible. With 2,103 quality tests for each Life Shake production, the purity and optimum potency is guaranteed, As with all Shaklee products, Life Shake doesn’t have artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners or preservatives and it is based on 2 clinical studies and a pilot study. The new formula is also free of seed oils, stevia, and sugar. And if you are looking for a good protein supplement and want it from a whey source (I completely understand because that was actually me before I got to know and trust Shaklee’s quality and started using their soy and plant proteins), then I must say that Shaklee’s Whey Build is the best. With this type of quality nutritional building blocks (amino acids) which fall under Rule #2 and #5, combined with Rule #6 Regular Exercise (especially resistance training exercises) you will do well in building solid muscle mass, giving a solid foundation for optimal health. Check out this study which used the Life Shake as the meal replacement shake mentioned. It is a follow up clinical study in which participants followed a maintenance program for six months which included one Life Shake per day, 40 minutes of exercise twice a week, and no calorie targets. These participants had already completed a prior clinical study in which the participants followed a Healthy Weight Program which replaced two meals with Shaklee Life Shakes daily, followed a 40-minute exercise program twice a week, and had calorie targets. See full details of the different Westcott clinical studies at healthresource.shaklee.com.

I encourage you to join me on one of my regular Friday Zoom meetings about the Ten Rules for Optimal Health (Fridays at Noon Pacific Time/AZ Time except a week from tomorrow: April 3rd because it will be Good Friday.) Just remember, you may need to be a little patient with me as I get better at how zoom works when presenting, but I am getting better and the information is solid. Also, before I finish, I want to mention in case you hadn’t seen, Shaklee has a free shipping promotion that ends today, Thursday, March 26th. There are also some buy one get one free specials (add two of the specially marked products to your cart and one of the two will automatically be free) as well as a special offer on a Modere product called Trim and Smooth. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think the one that I ordered (through the special) just arrived. I’m excited to give it a try. I’ve heard some glowing praise for it from new Shaklee members who recently became part of the Shaklee family when Shaklee acquired Modere. These individuals wanted to be able to continue using Trim and Smooth and/or the Modere Liquid Biocell (which I hear Shaklee will be releasing a new improved version of Shaklee Liquid Biocell in April, complete with Shaklee quality controls and Shaklee science to back it up. I can’t wait to learn more about it!

AND the new 2026 digital Shaklee Catalog just got released. Feel free to take a look.
