Water, It Does the Body Good

I’ve been wanting to do this blog post for a while now but life has been really full lately.  There’s a book that I got many years ago because my chiropractor had recommended it. The title is your body’s many cries for water you are not sick, you are thirsty! Don’t treat thirst with medications. It was written by Dr. “Batman” as he called himself in the front cover, but it is short for a much longer name: Dr Fereydoon Batmanghelidj (pronounced: Batman-ge-lij- ‘hard G’). As an MD, his formal medical training was from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School of London University.  He spent most of his career doing clinical and scientific research which led him to discover that many classical diseases are actually different ways that the body signals that it’s thirsty.  He first published the book in 1992. It has a lot of very interesting information though I have only skimmed a couple chapters.  However, it has rekindled my commitment to be better at my hydration.  Hydration has always been a big struggle for me.  The general rule is half of your body weight in ounces.  So someone weighing 140 pounds would need 70 ounces of.  Then if your water bottle holds 24 ounces of water, that would be 2.9 bottles of water. Coffee is a diuretic, so for every 8 ounces of coffee means you should make up with 2 8 ounce glasses of water.  I’m currently just focusing on getting the basic amount of half my body weight. One step at a time. I’d rather stretch myself with something realistic than make it more likely to fall off the bandwagon. Yesterday I forgot my water bottle when I went away from the house and I did the same today as well. But I am still drinking more water regularly than I was. Some of the classic diseases that Dr. Batman had identified as the body being dehydrated was arthritis, stomach pains, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, allergies, and asthma. I did read the part that he had his recommendation for amount of water and minerals to add in, but of course right now I can’t find that part.

I would have to say that dehydration probably isn’t the only cause for the ailments identified by Dr Batman, but knowing that having adequate water allows our cells to be optimal and allows for frequent detoxing through sweat and urine, makes drinking water one key way to support optimal health. I’ve been reviewing this weekly in my Friday Noon Zoom class on 10 Rules for Optimal Health. This is one reason that minerals need to be replenished too. Usually water comes with some, but I know that reverse osmosis water does not have these important micronutrients. I haven’t started to do it, but this week I am going to try adding a quarter to a half scoop of the Shaklee Performance Hydrate + to my water. Number one, having a little taste will help me get through.  I’ve put one ‘Good Gut and Go’ in one 24 ounce bottle each day and not only has that helped me detox better by giving me more regularity, but the mild raspberry taste (24 ounces dilutes the taste) has helped me look forward to that every day. I will still try to drink one 24 ounce bottle as just plain water, but since Hydrate+ is formulated with all 6 main electrolytes (with Opti-Lyte®), I think that will be a good boost to add.  I always make some full strength when someone in the family is sick to make sure they stay well hydrated. I’ve been told it also helps prevent fevers from spiking.

When I have it, I do also like adding the new low calorie Hydration and Focus sometimes too (Watermelon is my favorite….I guess technically it’s Raspberry Melon… Blood Orange is a good flavor too, but since the Hydrate + also comes in an Orange, Watermelon is a nice change.) However, the most recent box that I got, I got so that I could send a sample to new members, so I don’t want to run out. In addition, we have a tree in our backyard with some limequats in abundance right now, so I am also going to start using those for added flavor from the juice. I just have to get to picking some and having them handy and ready to add a bit of juice from. Lemon juice is always a nice add in too. However, our lemon tree doesn’t currently have lemons that are ready.

I do want to bring your attention to a current bonus that is available with the purchase of a YOUTH® Anti-Aging Personalized Regimen+. Add one (#89864 this is pretty much a personalized Youth Regimen which also includes the Neck and Face Wand already as well as 2 serums which pretty much makes it the “I want it all” option) to your online cart and receive a YOUTH Ageless™ Smoothing Wand for Eyes FREE!.  I’ve heard the wands compared to Botox….but without the ‘tox’in. I am not into all the fads and especially don’t want anything that brings me more toxins in my life. I do like both wands but it’s true that eyes are a special delicate area of the face that require special treatment. Honestly, I have used the Youth Eye Restoring Treatment more over the years because of the refreshing cooling tip and the fact that it can be used on your eyelids too. And you can get one of these eye treatments FREE with the purchase of any of these Youth Advanced Regimens: #89453, #89504, #89820 or #89513.

Note: The Youth Ageless Smoothing Wand for Eyes is only for below and beside the eye, but the eye wand does have instantly active peptides which visibly relax the skin within minutes of application, so the wands do have dual action with visible short term benefits, as well as cumulative long term benefits.
